Hazel-Rah

I got the Xtracycle back 🙂 AND did the shopping at H-Mart, which has a ton of Asian stuff and doesn’t try to make it make sense, so … I got some Korean Ginseng Tea and got on outta there. Then things were open 😛 It was 160$ — I suspect that’s because … Bernable got the nuts loose and got the parts to slide apart that have not slid apart in 10 years. We’re talkin’ stuck-seat-post challenge level and Serious Labor. New Year Goal: Slide that sucker apart and put the side thingies on right (like curtain rods).
Goin’ by Common Ground food coop there was a car w/ license plate Hazel-Rah. I know that from Watership Down. Welp, a web search says it’s something that is named after Hazel-Rah in some kind of combat … games, I assume? Ho-kay….

So I rode the Xtracycle for shopping and … yea, riding a clean, tuned bike…
… but back to the Transport for the Santa Rampage Reschedule which concluded at the Rose Bowl Tavern where I asked the lead guy of the Corn Flakes (old as the hills and twice as dirty) if they knew a song and … nope, so I started signin’ it and they said to keep goin’ (and I had an audience of 3 by the time I was done). LESSON YES JUST SING ON THE BIKE becaues then it’s really easy ot just sing for people.
The Brompton is in the living room b/c I’m going to GET UP FLOGGIGN EARLY and ride out to Enterprise and snag a 4wD (i hope i hope) and head east.
We’ll see … if the weather still likes me. I made a reservation for TODAY (CHristmas) when it said Freezing Rain Friday Night. Now it says Freezing Rain until 4:00 and I won’t get to that part ’til 6 or 7… and parts of forecasts say rain and others say sleet and freezing rain. So I canceled that b/c starting that trip at 1:00 … I don’t like driving at 2 a.m. that much better than in slushy stuff.
I’ve earned a few freezing rain merit badges and danced through a little of it comin’ home from Thanksgiving. I plan on tossing the Jackery into the car …okay, I have NOT charged it but … it shouldn’t have drained from sitting around to where it wouldn’t be useful if shit happens, and we’re not talkign about subzero (like T-Giving).
And now I am wound down enough to hit the hay. Which I am glad is not hay ’cause I’d sneeze.

back to sandals!

60 degrees this morning…

DEFINITELY more people using the viaduct-under-the-railroad …. I used to only have 2 or 3 times a semester where somebody would have to drive …. behind …. me…. ’cause it’s only one lane each way with a pillar in between. Yesterday there were 3 or 4 cars going under *on the same day.* Yes, one driver whipped around the *car* who’d already passed me going around the pillar.

Had a cussout the other day, at The Place Where That’s Most Likely To Happen: Univeristy Ave where folks are streaming in from the Interstate and getting to the light at Mattis. They’ve already gone through the light at Country Fair…. but I’m waiting for green as a car brakes a tad hard (no squeals or anything but I could hear hitting ’em twice), and as I pedal through I hear a woman “GET THE F**** OUT OF THE WAY!” to which I replied “YOU TOO< LITTLE GIRL!!!” (No, I don’tknow why.) THey then pull into the gas station right after intersection and zip into a parking space, so I pedal harder and wonder, but … nothing. Suspect: eyes on the phone and startled.

LOTS of assorted communications and eye contact and stuff all week.

I did a spontaneous “get more miles” Sunday snagging some things to donate at Cunningham Township and the Beloved Inclusive mini-pantry…. but then Monday, where’s the waist bag? Oh, snagged it on the way in at M’s house but … no wallet? Extra half mile Tuesday going in getting a dozen bagels and discerning no, I didn’t leave it there. TILE says “it’s not here, it’s not anywhere.” I just changed the battery on it, too… BUT it says last seen *last Wednesday,* which means that thenew batterydid not talk to it. Oh, and when I was doin’ the batteries, yea, I had to guess “which one was new?” ’cause I swapped them both out. So Tues. night I got enough miles to make 17 by swinging by Cunningham Township and asking TILE (I had also called them) … and riding as far as the railroad tracks towards Beloved in case it had leaped away goin’ over the tracks. It told me, though, as I was trying to remember my exact route back that … I would have noticed. The TILE was prob’ly out of commission. The wallet was not gone. I checked the laundry and the top surfaces of life and the assorted bags and the kitty litter container that’s in the crate on the bike. Wednesday I got those extra miles b/c extra trip to DOUBLE CHECK at M’s house, and snag a 20 to get beer, with the wallet telling me “erm, how many 20’s do you have? You need to find me! Remember when I was lost for six weeks?” then told housemate out loud that TILE was prob’ly out of whack and … went in and checked that black crate that I had *cleaned out* as a Round Tuit exercise on Saturday and that’s why the wallet had gotten all the way to the bottom and was black-on-black and there were other string bags in there to help disguise it.
TODAY I hope to get the extra miles (commute is 13 + a little depending on how I go; I need 16.667 to get 500 miles in a 30 day month) jus tgoin’ out to Beloved and … doin’ the contemplative prayer thing. But FIRST I need to get back to being focused here with the lessons of life and math!
