Bike lanes in the “plan.” Yea, right.

At the open house for the Campus BIke Plan Wednesday, I overheard it being acknowledged that well, yes, that blue line *said* bike lane on Green Street but well, in that stretch there really wasn’t room so it wouldn’t be.

Last night I discovered taht well, there’s a whole stretch of Green Street that has bike lanes in the “plan.”  OH, except that the *first* plan is to narrow the streets by moving the sidewalks out into where the bikes ride now.  Sometime in the future, you know, some time, well, they *intend* to have bike facilities.  Pedestrians *are* the priority (except when they’re not.)  Oh, what’s a little misdirection of facts to make us sound better?

One response to “Bike lanes in the “plan.” Yea, right.

  1. “…that blue line *said* bike lane on Green Street but well, in that stretch there really wasn’t room so it wouldn’t be.”

Or to put it another way: “To make a cycle lane would mean Taking. Space From. Cars. We can’t do that: Cars Are Important”
