slicker than deer guts on a doorknob

… no, not really.  We have freezing fog that graduated to what looked like flurries and were even swirling around instead of bonding with the pavement, then turning back to stuff that stuck to everything… but basically if you were careful, you were okay.  Saw four or five other bicycles, including an Xtra, and I dont’ think any of them had studs. Forecast says we’re under a stationary front that’s just gonna keep doing this – only a little more, here and there.  I feel a possible b us trip coming on…

Tried to switch from big to little hose clamp for my flash flag… but it’s too small.  I did put the screw in a better place on the big one so it’s more snug.

  1. I’ve never heard the expression “slicker than deer guts on a doorknob” before. When I was growing up here in the Ozarks, it was always “slicker than snot on a doorknob”. Not sure which is less appealing!

  2. Snot here too…

Where exactly did you put that screw driver?

  3. Oh, sorry that was a screw in a more snug place.

  4. You have to ram the screw through the hose clamp to attach it to the flag, and I put it too close to where the ends meet so I could only close it so far. So, once I’d taken it apart, I shoved it in further back.

We got the full dose of ice, and another fatality on the interstate. 23 year old not wearing a seat belt, witnesses say his car flipped several times. Now, how fast do you think he was going to flip several times, while driving on pure ice?
Fatal mistake on his part, and tragic indeed, but that’s what we share the road with.
