“sunday streets” is one of the “car-free festival” events happening here and there. It’s somethign I think we should do here.
I had to reflect, though, that the joy of parading up and down streets is not *quite* as rare for those of us who’ve lived where there are things like ice storms. Communal need can bring out the best in us and we get out and see each other and all that good stuff… and practicing it is good, lest we instead fear those neighbors in minor weather upheavals or major disasters, and even survivors are telling stories like those out of Katrina.
(So, yes, I need to be out in my yard and talking to my neighbors more.)
